11th House in Astrology

How can the 11th House become the House of Profits & also malefic? Is it not contradiction?

First, it is not correct to say that 11th house lord is malefic to all Ascendants (Lagnas). All the 12 Zodiac Sign is divided into three sub categories.

1, Sara Lagna Category (Variable/Changing): Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn

2. Sthira Lagna Category (Fixed/Static): Taurus/Leo/Scorpio/Aquarius

3. Upaya Lagna Category (Half Variable & Half Fixed): Gemini/Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces

In these above categories, the 11th house attains the following status.

1. Sara Lagna Category: 11th house attains the status of “Pathaga Sthana” (House of Collateral damages.

2. Sthira Lagna Category: 11th house remains neutral (it is neither malefic nor benefice).

3. Upaya Lagna Category: 11th house attains the status of “Maraka Sthana” (House of Death & “Pathaga Sthana” (House of Collateral Damages).

Thus the 11th house becomes malefic for Sara Lagna Category; and neutral for Sthira Lagna Category; and double malefic for Upaya Lagna Category. Hence the 11th house lord becomes malefic for Sara & Upaya Lagna categories and neutral for Sthira Lagna category.

Thus, the 11th house is not malefic house to all Lagnas. The 11th house lord is not the malefic planet for Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius Ascendant,.

Second Part of the Question: He is lord of gains also. Is it a contradiction?

Answer: It is not contradiction. First, we try to understand, what you mean by “Profits?”

Profits means it is an income (or) gain (or) gift. That is, it is an inward flow of money/gains/gifts into everybody's life. We see few examples of Profits.

1. Salary earned through jobs

2. Profits received through commercial transactions.

3. Gifts received through family/friends.

4. Bribes received by Officials

5. Money/Goods/Assets stolen from others (Getting it through unfair means).

6. Money/Goods received on conditions (Advances/borrowings)

7. Marks received by the Students

8. Harvest done by the farmers.

9. Getting favours in an unfair manner.

10. Votes received by the Politicians.

11. Getting sexual favours from women.

Income can come in many ways. It could come through lawful (or) ethical manner. It could come in an unlawful (or) unethical manner. In the Hindu Religion, every Soul has to pay very heavy price for earning money/assets/favours in an unethical manner. Hence, the 11th House lord will decide the following parameters.

1. Type of Gains

2. Legality of Income sources.

3. Quantum of Gains.

4. Impacts through Gains.

Hence, a native may earn lot of money but could face increase in difficulties in his/her life. Let us see some example:

1. Robbers killing (or) maiming a person, while trying to loot the ornament from that person. Here his gain (Gold Ornaments) create a dangerous situation threatening the person’s life itself.

2. Sons & Daughters fight with each other while trying to divide the family property owned by a native. Here the native faces complete chaos & disintegration of his family during his lifetime, which happens through his Gain (Property).

3. A Politician could find himself in Jail for his corruption: Here the Gain (in the form of bribes) will make him to spend his life in the Jail.

4. A person purchases luxurious Car, but he face death (or) amputation due to Car accident. Here his gain (Car) will eventually bring death (or) disability.

Conclusions: 11th House only indicate the Gain. But the Gain could create lasting impact in the life of the natives. Thus, the 11th House getting placed in any malefic houses will create the following difficulties.

1. Struggle to earn money (or)

2. Earnings through improper manner (or)

3. Difficulties that are to be accrued through Gains

For Sara Lagna and Upaya Lagna categories, the placement of 11th House lord in any malefic houses (or) if its placed in the 11th house could bring devastating results. For Sthira Lagna category, the native will not be affected by their earnings, if the 11th house lord is placed in benefice houses.

More on 11th House: If he is malefic, what happens to his aspect? Is it true the lord only malefic and the house and occupants are good?

No, the 11th House and the Planets that are present in the 11th House would equally be malefic along with the 11th House lord. The aspection of 11th House would also equally create troubles.
